Paying for Catholic School in Tulsa: The Tax Credit, the St. Francis Trust and GO for Catholic Schools

All eleven Catholic schools in the four counties are on the credit file. Here is how the diocese's own aid fits on top.

TL;DR: Eleven Catholic schools in the Tulsa metro are registered for Oklahoma's Parental Choice Tax Credit, worth $5,000 to $7,500 per child. After the credit, families in the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma usually turn to the Saint Francis of Assisi Tuition Assistance Trust, which takes applications until April 15, and to GO for Catholic Schools scholarships.

How many Catholic schools serve Tulsa, and do they take the Oklahoma tax credit?

The diocese describes thirteen Catholic schools across eastern Oklahoma with roughly 4,500 students a year, and eleven of them are in our four-county area. All eleven are on the Oklahoma Tax Commission's participating-school file dated September 3, 2026, so families can request an Enrollment Verification Number and apply on OkTAP.

The diocese groups them in two ways. Its own diocesan schools include Bishop Kelley High School, Holy Family Classical School at the cathedral, the parish elementaries and All Saints in Broken Arrow. Three are private Catholic schools: Cascia Hall, Monte Cassino and San Miguel. The other two diocesan schools, in Bartlesville and Muskogee, sit outside our coverage.

How much does the tax credit cover at a Tulsa parish school?

It covers up to your income tier and never more than tuition and fees. A household with federal AGI of $75,000 or less, or on SNAP, TANF or SoonerCare, can receive up to $7,500 per child; the ceiling drops to $7,000 up to $150,000 of AGI, $6,500 up to $225,000, $6,000 up to $250,000 and $5,000 above that.

To show the math, take a made-up parish tuition of $7,900 and a family at $120,000 of AGI: the credit would be $7,000 and the family would owe $900 before any other aid. The figure is illustrative because schools don't report tuition to the state; your school's business office has the real number. Remember that a discount the school records, such as a parishioner rate, lowers the tuition the credit is figured on.

Saint Francis Trust vs GO for Catholic Schools: what's the difference?

Both help after the credit, but they work differently. The Saint Francis of Assisi Tuition Assistance Trust is the diocese's own need-based fund, built on a $5 million endowment pledge from 1999; GO for Catholic Schools is a scholarship granting organization funded by donors who earn an Oklahoma tax credit for giving.

  • Saint Francis Trust: open at every accredited Catholic school in the diocese, applications due April 15, more than $6 million awarded to about 7,000 students since 2000, and no family receives full tuition.
  • GO for Catholic Schools: formed under Oklahoma's tax-credit scholarship law to make Catholic schooling more affordable in the diocese. Donors can earn a state credit of up to 75% of a gift made by December 31.

Neither one replaces the state credit, and neither is guaranteed. Ask your principal or pastor how your school runs both applications; the Trust says schools send reminders and instructions each year.

Which Catholic schools are approved for the LNH special-needs scholarship?

Nine of the eleven are on OSDE's Lindsey Nicole Henry list dated October 28, 2026: Bishop Kelley and the eight PK-8 schools other than San Miguel. For a student with an IEP, LNH is a second state program on top of the credit, paid by OSDE through the school toward tuition, fees and disability services. The LNH guide covers who qualifies.

Which dates should Tulsa Catholic families mark for 2027-28?

Five dates cover most of it: December 1, 2026 for a current-year LNH application, December 31 for donors giving to GO for Catholic Schools, March 15, 2027 when OkTAP opens at 9 a.m., April 15 for the Saint Francis Trust, and June 15 at 11:59 p.m. when the tax credit window closes. Families at or below $150,000 of AGI should file in the first 60 days to get priority review.
