Oklahoma tax credit calendar: from OkTAP to your school's mailbox

Each step between asking a Tulsa school for an Enrollment Verification Number and the state's check arriving, taken from the Tax Commission's rules and taxpayer page.

From Enrollment Verification Number to a check at your Tulsa school

February to early March	Get an Enrollment Verification Number	Ask each school for an EVN per child. The school's registration on OkTAP lets it email the EVN to you.
Mar 15, 9:00 a.m.	OkTAP opens	File one application per student with the EVN, student and parent details and the 2025 federal AGI (for 2027-28).
First 60 calendar days	Priority review	Households at or below $150,000 come first, then students who held the credit the prior year, if they filed in the 60 days.
After the priority period	Remaining applications	Higher-income and later filers are reviewed in the order received while the annual cap has room.
Jun 15, 11:59 p.m.	Window closes	No late filings. A withdrawn application can't be reopened.
July 1 to Dec 31	Changes	Approved families can redirect the credit to another participating school or adjust tuition on OkTAP; the new school submits fresh enrollment verification.
By Aug 30	Payment	The Tax Commission sends the school one check for the whole credit, written to the taxpayer, no later than August 30.
Within 30 days of a move	Tell the Tax Commission	If the student leaves for a public school or a nonaccredited school, the taxpayer reports it electronically within 30 days; the credit for that period is recaptured.

When does the Oklahoma tax credit money reach a Tulsa school?

Look for it in late summer: the rules now require one payment of the entire credit no later than August 30, sent to the school on your application as a check bearing the taxpayer's name.

The first full year of the program used two payments instead, dated by August 30, 2025 and January 15, 2026.

Who gets reviewed first after March 15?

Applications filed in the first 60 calendar days get priority: households at or below $150,000 first, then students who received the credit the year before, ahead of everyone else.

In the 2026 cycle the Tax Commission noted that approvals for non-priority applicants with AGI of $150,001 or more would start May 16, 2026, after the priority period closed.

What if we switch schools after approval?

Send a school change request on OkTAP so the check goes to the new school; changes and tuition adjustments are accepted from July 1 through December 31, and the new school submits its own enrollment verification.

If the check has already gone to the first school, you are responsible for collecting it there.

Which tax year's income does the 2027-28 application use?

The parents' federal AGI from the second preceding tax year, which for a spring 2027 application means the 2025 return.
